Band Biography
Gritty and invigorating Tri City Villains gives new meaning to Rock City Love. Formed in Halifax, Nova Scotia – a city as diverse in talent as it is steeped in history – in 2014, these boys know how to rock.
Smoke roughened and compelling – sounding of late night bars and after hours jam sessions – the boys evoke a depth of emotion from their audiences. Steve Cole on guitar and lead vocals draws a compelling voice and uncompromising warble from the instrument. Allied with Dave Pickup on bass guitar and back-up vocals; with a gifted and charming Cape Breton drawl he completes the vocal range in a way unique to him. All this tied together by Sean Sawler bringing the trio home – keeping them in line – on drums and sealing the deal to create the hard rock sound they have developed. A mix of hard rock and riff oriented rock they follow markers left by The Greats to go before them: Guns and Roses, The Cult, AC/DC, and Kiss, while blending their own personal style on a genre supported by millions.
Although relatively new on the scene these boys have been by no means quiet; winning the Porters Lake Battle of the Bands in 2015 and the Media Works Battle of the bands in 2016. Early 2017 started with a tour to Ontario with stops along the way. They’ve performed, “gigged”, continuously through their development. Exploring and discovering their own sound through experimentation and a little fun – and growing closer as a result.
Currently in the works is a new EP aimed for a 2018 release, with pre-production slated for November of 2017. They’ve begun work on new songs and are writing and practicing with renewed excitement and energy.
